Your profile, photos, videos, comments, likes, and followers will all be permanently deleted if you deactivate your account. You can also opt to take a break and disable your account for a certain time.
How do I temporarily disable my account
Your profile, images, comments, and likes will be hidden if you temporarily disable your account. You may revive it by signing back in. Your Instagram account may only be disabled from a computer or mobile browser.
To temporarily deactivate your account, follow these steps:

1. Use a computer to access instagram.com. You can't disable your Instagram account temporarily from within the app.
2. In the upper right corner, click your profile image, then Profile, Edit Profile.
3. Scroll down to the bottom right and choose Temporarily deactivate my account.
4. Why are you deactivating your account? Select an item from the drop-down menu. and then type in your password again. After you've picked a reason from the menu and entered your password, you'll have the option to disable your account.
5. Select Temporarily deactivate your account from the drop-down menu.
Mobile
1. Use a mobile browser to access instagram.com. You can't disable your Instagram account temporarily from within the app.
2. In the lower right corner, press your profile image, then Profile, Edit Profile.

You can set your posts to private or block individuals if you don't want to deactivate your account but want to control who can view them.

You can re-register with the same username or add it to another account after your account has been deactivated, as long as it hasn't been stolen by another Instagram user.

2. Select Log out from the drop-down menu next to Edit profile.
3. Return to the account you wish to delete and complete the steps outlined above.
Your account and all of your information will be permanently wiped 30 days after you request deletion, and you will not be able to retrieve it. During that time, the content will be subject to Instagram's Terms of Service and Data Policy, and it will be inaccessible to other Instagram users.
After the deletion process begins, it may take up to 90 days to complete. After 90 days, copies of your material may stay in backup storage, which we utilize to restore data in the case of a disaster, software malfunction, or other data loss event.
