Educating aspiring designers about the notion of incorporating circularity into fashion and design will be a significant component of this year's Redress Design Award. According to a report published by the EU Science Hub in 2018, over 80% of a product's environmental effect is determined during the design phase. With that in mind, the judges this year will be looking for ideas that best demonstrate low-waste, low-impact materials, and methods, as well as lifespan and recyclability.
Redress has refreshed and expanded its Redress Academy platform (previously known as LEARN) to offer free in-depth resources for designers who want to learn more about sustainable and circular fashion. This is to better educate designers and potential Redress Design Award applicants alike on these key principles. The Redress Academy has guidelines, videos, and case studies on a variety of topics, including sourcing, design, production, and marketing, all with circularity in mind.
